2015 NONFICTION READING CHALLENGE

I've decided on a different challenge for myself this year, one that will really be a challenge-- the Nonfiction Reading Challenge, hosted by The Introverted Reader.

I don't read a whole lot of nonfiction but should read more. And I've purchased several books over the last few years that I meant to read but that are still sitting on my TBR pile. So this challenge should get me to buckle down and crack some of those spines. Here is a description of the challenge:

The Challenge:  Read any non-fiction book(s), adult or young adult. That's it. You can choose anything. Memoirs? Yes. History? Yes. Travel? Yes. You get the idea? Absolutely anything that is classified as non-fiction counts for this challenge.

Challenge levels are:

Dilettante--Read 1-5 non-fiction books

Explorer--Read 6-10

Seeker--Read 11-15

Master--Read 16-20

This challenge will last from January 1 to December 31, 2015. You can sign up anytime throughout the year at the link above.

The challenge is not limited to bloggers. You can also link to a review you wrote on another site, such as GoodReads or LibraryThing.

Crossovers with other challenges are acceptable, and feel free to read your books in any format you like.

I'm going to go with the Explorer level. I'll shoot for 10 books, though in truth I'll be pretty pleased with myself if I get through 6.

I'll list the books I've read below and link to reviews here and back at The Introverted Reader when completed.

1. One Summer. America 1927 by Bill Bryson
2. Medieval Tastes. Food, Cooking, and the Table by Massimo Montanari
3. On Immunity. An Inoculation by Eula Biss
4. When Books Went to War by Molly Guptill Manning
5. A Great and Terrible King. Edward I and the Forging of Britain by Marc Morris
6. So We Read On by Maureen Corrigan
7. Our Man in Charleston by Christopher Dickey
8. We Should All Be Feminists by Chimanda Ngozi Adichie
9. Those Who Stayed Behind by Hal S. Barron
10. The Desert Queen by Janet Wallach

  1. Good luck with this challenge, Susan. I'm going to try and read more non-fiction this year, too, although I'm not taking part in the challenge. I think I read 8 non-fiction books last year, which is quite good for me!
